Default Clarisys Speakers

I’ve heard good things about these speakers.

Has anyone heard these yet? If so please describe the components in the system and the sound characteristics you heard? What you felt the pros and cons were?

Thanks in advance.

Yes. At AXPONA last year in two different rooms.

One system was all Hegel amplification with Shunyata Venom-X cabling and Denali v2, IIRC, power distribution.

The other system was all Constellation Inspiration components with Shunyata Omega cabling and Everest power distribution.

Pros: both systems sounded amazing with superb performance for every audio attribute that audiophiles care about, and audio reviewers write about.

They were consistently regarded as two of the best rooms at AXPONA.

Cons: being tall and fairly wide panel speakers, they’re physically large speakers.

My dealer attended the Florida audio expo 2024 and thought the "Auditoriums" sounded superb -- had 6 VAC IQ300 amps providing the power. Monsters though:

Specifications
• Height: 6.4 ft
• Depth: 4.3 in
• Width: 2.9 ft
• Weight: 507 lbs a piece (without packaging)

During a recent phone chat with Ken Stevens from Convergent Audio, Ken mentioned the Clarysus speakers being very good...that was the first I've heard of them, but a complement of anything audio related coming from him is usually good nuff for me. Now I'm definitely interested in hearing them.

Many thanks everyone. This is encouraging. A friend of mine sells them now. So, it has me thinking that my new room needs new speakers. (Still working on the room though).

Yes, there smaller models available, though. IIRC, the Hegel and Constellation rooms at AXPONA last year used the Minuet.

Here's some photos I took at AXPONA last year.

The Hegel room:

Nominal Impedance: 4.25 ohm
Efficiency: 88dB with the neodymium option the neodymium option

Sounds good, Joe, as the room (room acoustics, specifically) are the most important part.

I listen in a "quasi-nearfield" setup in my small home, with the 'Beths 6.5ft apart and the listening position at 6.5 ft in front of the speakers (measured iwth a laser "tape measure").

Here's an iPhone 13 quickie snappie from showing the GIK Acoustics Alpha 4As and Impressions panels that are just along the front wall. There are 7 panels on the front wall, alone (the wall in front of the listener, behind the speakers, is the front wall).

I also have GIK Impressions panels at the 1st reflection points along the L/R side walls, and an acoustical panel behind me. Also getting a new GIK panel to replace that panel from their new Slaftfusor series. Should arrive this coming week.

Something else I found that was really important in improving the room acoustics was putting Norm Varney's (of A/V Roomservice) EVPs under my REL sub. Before I installed them, the sub was "coupling" the floor with low-frequency energy, which then coupled to the dry-wall construction walls to resonate at...70 Hz.

Putting Norm's EVPs under the sub made the room itself considerably quieter because the sub was no longer "coupling" energy-wise the side walls, resonating at 70 Hz, and putting noise into the room from the side walls themselves. This is exactly what is going in many rooms and homes. Eek!

This graphic from Norm sums it up very accurately, in my direct, observed experience...

Many thanks for this entire post. Beautiful room!

I’m still having problems locating builders to do our dedicated addition. Home building here is rapid, so construction guys don’t desire to do a smaller job if they lose a larger one, or worse yet, a larger one becomes available and they leave the job half done (this happened to a friend on a kitchen remodel).

So, if I can get the room built I’ll be using some of your ideas above. Thanks again.

The larger models look like Apogees.

All iterations are wide -- in feet: 2.5, 2.7 and 2.9

That's what I disliked about my SF Stradivaris' I had. The need for a big room is paramount.
