Send the MX150 back and ask for a new one, let Mcintosh figure out what is wrong. I have a MX120 that I bought new and have not had any problems at all.

It may come to that... We'll see what happens.

Default Operator Error Maybe?
It sounds like it could be operator error. I would hate to see MX150 getting a bad rap. Our systems have so much going on with cables, menus, etc. it's very possible to do something wrong. I've done something wrong more than once, that's for sure. No slam intended here...

Mike.......I have been in the same boat, too, making mistakes during setup that created issues, but never have I pressed the power off botton to discover a crackling noise in all channels that diminishes slowly as the power supply voltage collapses. I would not think that has anything to do with a user setup error.

Dan, Your probably right, but you never know....maybe it's a source? Maybe a bad cable or after-market power cord. Maybe the speaker cables are loose? So many changes when you switch out a pre-amp. So many different maybe's. Hell, i'm probably wrong.....

I know I would be unhooking various devices and reducing the variables until I could determine which input/output, cable or device might be the culprit.

I know my dealer would over here figuring out the problem, and if they didn't figure it out they would be leaving with the product.
