L,

If you use the MEN220 it will work on your front left right only as far as Room Perfect. Room Perfect in MX150 will work on all channels used.

Thanks,

Am I correct that the same processors and processing power is used in both the 220 and 150 for room correction, so that would be a plus for the 220.

I do understand that the 150 does a lot more than the 220.

Yes, Room Perfect is the same but MX150 has more channels of course. The room issues are always present in both 2-channel and multi-channel systems but multi-channel will usually have the most issues due to the mix of speakers and room positions they are placed in.
Using MX150 in the 2-channel mode will still retain Room Perfect performance advantages.

Thanks,
Ron-C

Thanks for the info Ron. It looks like I should go with the MX150 for multi channel music and HT, and still have great 2 channel. Can't wait until it is released.

OK, Ivan, here is my stupid question. If the 220 goes between the pre and amp, how is the 220 going to control the subs if they are attached to the pre? Does the 220 have XLR out for subs? Perhaps you have seen the back of the piece and can explain?

Gordon

Since the MEN220 has a high and low pass, it will have 2 sets of outputs, you would connect the subs to the low pass side. Yes, it has XLR outputs. It was similar with my ex Bryston 10B active crossover.

Will a MX119 and a MEN220 yield the same performance in 2 channel stereo as the MX150?

I am wondering if it might not be better. The same processor is used in the 220 and 150. Either the 220 has 3+ channels doing nothing or that processing power is used for 2 rather than multi- channel.

Yes you can use the MEN220 on the two front channels of any MX. MEN220 has two sets of unbalanced and two sets balanced outputs. You can mix these depending on the input characteristics of your amp, amps or sub. These outputs are labeled low and high. We use high for your main speaker amp and low for sub(s) or biamping. The sub out can be made mono if you are only using one sub. All four outputs have their own time delay and level adjustments.
Using the crossovers in the MEN for your sub is the best solution since it is the more sophisticated than what is in your preamp processor. You can bypass the Room Perfect processing at any time but the crossovers will always be set unless you enter the control menu of the MEN220 and change the setting.
Any custom EQ curves you use can also be changed on the fly or set to Neutral which is a flat bypass.
The actual RP processor in MX150 is 4 times as large as MEN220 since it has more channels to deal with.

Thanks,
Ron-C
