I've been a busy boy. A few more.

How about some video?

Here's a performance by the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. I shot this at 2 A.M. at the Blue Note club. Just a short vid.

A few shots. Tricky light situation, very dark (sometimes almost pitch black!) most of the time! I was tested big time.

Cheers. They're all brothers too. They're a musical family. Their dad is Phil Cohran. A long time member of Sun Ra's Arkestra. Phil Cohran - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Atane- amazing photo's, thank you for sharing them. I particularly love the black & white shots- the lighting and contrasts are wonderful. And it is nice to see so many different bands featuring horns and a variety of instrumental combo's.

Cheers. I do have an affinity for horns. Growing up listening to James Brown and Fela Kuti will do that to ya.

Yesterday was Miles Davis' birthday. His protege Wallace Roney had a tribute show for him at Zinc Bar.

Your a man after me own heart BTF 1980, I too used to dwell in concert halls, but had to rely on fans streaming the concert on youtube the day after. Hope you get to see the whole show after your three songs in the pit 'n out. Or do you have the fabled AAA pass at each gig?

For big name concerts (which I detest & rarely do), it's usually 3 songs. I just hate everything about the photo pit in big shows. It's very limiting. However, for most of the stuff I shoot (jazz, afrobeat etc), I'm there for the duration of the show, and I like a more low-key atmosphere that gives me freedom and space. A lot of it is pleasure shooting as well and not work related. Nevertheless, I usually shoot when I have passes, and/or if it's a small venue, I shoot where I know people, the band, or I ask and/or shoot where it is permitted. I never take pics at venues that I either don't have permission to take or if it is prohibited. I'm very discreet, and I have a small camera (Nikon D5100). It's like I'm not even there. I try to be as unobtrusive as possible.
