Default 20A power cord for Ref 5?

Sorry for the newbie ARC question but does the Ref 5 take a 20A power cord versus the "regular" 15A? I think that I read that somewhere, but just want to make sure before I buy an upgraded PC.

I have a Ref 5 coming my way and would like to have the new PC here at the same time. Thanks in advance for the information.

Regards,

Dave

Dave...yes, it takes a 20A PC. Congrats on the new Ref 5. That will be a very nice combo with your Lamm M1.2s. Also, fyi, there is talk that there will be a mk 2 version coming out sometime that incorporates some of the proprietary teflon caps in the Ref 40 Anniv preamp. I believe there will be an upgrade path so your Ref 5 can be upgraded when the mk 2 is rolled out. Congrats once again.

Thanks Cyril, I really appreciate the quick response. That's why I love these forums!

And yeah, I'm pretty excited about getting the Ref 5. From everything I have read and heard from others, it will be a great upgrade to my system.

If that's true about the mk2 version, it will create an interesting upgrade path without having to go all the way to the Ref 40.

Thanks again.

Dave

Hey Dave:
Congrats on a great combo. I recommend Shunyata with Ref 5. Python does the trick. Not sure if Anaconda will bring much more to the party. I look forward to your review of the Arc/Lamm combo with or without upgraded pc.

Thanks all, I appreciate the encouragement on the Ref 5. I'm hoping the 4th time will be a charm with the preamp. I've gone from a McIntosh C2300, to a Lamm LL2.1 Deluxe, to a Musical Fidelity kW hybrid and now the ARC. I think that will be a good place to stop for a while. I'll post my perceptions once it is broken in.

For a PC, I was going with Cardas Golden Reference which I am using on all of my other gear. Reasonably priced too.

Dave,

Congrats on the REF 5. I hope that your preamp quest will be done with it. ARC surely knows how to design a wonderful preamplifier.

Dave, just to chip in my 2 cents worth, ARC actually provides a very decent 12 gauge and what I believe is a US made power cord. Of course its a basic cable, no fancy insulators, plugs or networks but it's well shielded and actually sounds quite good. Regarding Shunyata power cords, word has it ARC actually uses them at the factory, though this is unconfirmed.
