Okay, I'm on my second set of Mullard 807s from Viva Tubes and it's still a no go with my Universal Inspire. Loud buzzing and crackling. Seems very unstable. Using a Mullard 5AR4 rectifier and a Phillips 5691 input tube.

Wondering about the adapters? They seem quite solid, purchased from Amazon. What think? Any advice would be appreciated! I love the 6L6GC sound, would be psyched to make these 807s work.

Thanks!

I have really been enjoying my new Universal Inspire. I have had it for about three to four weeks now. I am ready to try some different tubes for curiosity. It sounds amazing with my LI Audio F15s. It came with KT88s. Is there a specific tube rolling sheet that I should go off of? They are all over the web. I want to use the right sheet and don't blow anything up LOL

You can use any 5 volt rectifier with any power tube. The exception is with 6V6G, 6L6G and 6L6GA only use a 5Y3 or an 80 with an adapter.

You may want to check out the Gold Lion KT77.

Don't go nuts buying a lot of different power tubes. IMHO, the 6SL7 is the tube that has the biggest effect on the sound.

I bought some 6V6S to try so you are saying I need to buy a 5Y3 rectifier tube?

Try a different rectifier, perhaps start with a 5Y3 and work your way up the voltage drop ladder.

JJ's 6V6s right? No, they are 6V6GT's. 6V6G, 6L6G and 6L6GA's are ST or coke bottle shaped. They should be used with a 5Y3 or 80.

You can use any 5 volt rectifier with the JJ's. Let your ears decide what is best.
