Hi Serge,
I'm very glad to read your positive observation about Ref5. I decided to buy Sasha when I've listened Sasha with Puccini, Pass XA100.5 and Ref5. He had only 200hrs, and alreadt he was so impressive. It's a very great preamp, and stay for the moment my first choice. Many users of Ref5 have observed that he becomes better and stabilised after 500hrs. Pass XA and Ref5 are great matching. In a few days, I will listen the same system, but with the Anniversary edition. It seems it doesn't play in the same league, ans is considered as the best preamp ever made, but the budget is not the same too. Many thanks for your opinion, which is very impotant as you have a great experience with WA. Jean-Paul

The Ref 5 listening sessions at my place are over for now. Great preamp for sure. I will have to think about this one taking place in my rack on a more permanent basis.
 There are a few others I want to explore first before deciding, especially that the Ref 210 amps also visited my place but did not ultimately work out for me.

I have a set of the McIntosh MC2301 mono-blocks arriving tomorrow to match up to my Wilson Sophia 2's and have really been struggling with the front end of my system, namely whether I even really need a preamp at all. I was told by two dealers that I need to be careful about matching up this preamp with my MC2301 and that their impedance may not be a good match for each other. Your experience seems to be quite the contrary. It sounds like the match was a wonderful fit for your Macs. By the way, this is my very first post in this forum. I joined awhile ago, mostly to read and learn, but recently upgraded my B&W 801's to Wilsons and bit the bullet to update everything in my system. The last serious component I brought into my home was a long time ago, so I am re-invigorated to jump start my passion once again. Best, Chad

. Do your local dealers also carry ARC? If so, can you borrow a demo unit and hear for yourself what they will sound like combined with the MC2301s? Best to hear and jusdge for yourself  . Good luck.
