A power guard question for those in the know; I used to light up the pg circuit on my bridged mc2500's maybe once or twice a month over the years that I had them. It really wasn't that hard to do. Then about 3 years ago I replaced the 2500's with a pair of mc1201's and I've yet to see the 1201's pg lights even flicker. I've often wondered if the 1201's having better specs than the older and noisier 2500's may have something to do with that?

Since it is not possible to compare what the SPL were then and now, another words how loud you were listening then and now, it is not possible to answer that question objectively.

Your listening SPL preference with the new amplifier is perhaps due to the different sonic signature or perhaps a shift in music preference or perhaps your mood or a at least a dozen of other possibilities.

Not to mention if alcohol was involved in any way.

There's no doubt the 1201's go much louder and have much more authoritive bass than the bridged 2500's. Even though there's only 200 wpc difference there are no pg lights to be seen.......... maybe they don't work

Sounds like you have much more headroom with the new amps. Enjoy responsibly
