Had a listen in my local shop. It was only a 320kbps internet radio station on the £5k Musical fidelity Ovation system but the clarity cohesion and detail retrieval was amazing, without being over analytical. I didn't want to spoil my ears with a full demo but if you can justify the cost it's a safe buy.

Bought a pair of Utopias today. I'm in Vancouver for a couple days so I'm listening to them on an iPhone 7 with a jitterbug and a dragonfly.
Can't wait to be home Thursday night so I can start the break in process on my Aurilac Taurus headphone amp. They sounded fantastic at my dealers shop with this comboIMG_1480492202.671062.jpg

I look forward to hearing your impressions. A dealer buddy of mine carries Focal and is getting me a pair later this year for a great deal. The only Focal stuff I ever owned is their high end car line installed in my Corvette, the only car stereo I have ever heard that I can stand.

They should sound amazing. I like your amp, too!

Finally got to sit down with my new headphones. Even brand new they are fantastic! Playing some Holly Cole on DSD right now. It's hard to describe but everything just seems to sound right. I listen to music streaming thru an Aurilac Aries to an Aurilac Vega DAC to the Taurus headphone amp. DSD is fabulous but even Tidal sounds great. It's hard to believe these HP's can get better but I believe they are a long way from being broken in. I will give an update when the have been used for a while.

I had the chance to spend some quality time with the Utopias this weekend, and also to listen to the SR-009's and HE-1000's at a local meet. Utopias are phenomenal headphones (best off the shelf headphones I've spent time with). At the end of the day, given a choice between a pair of Utopias and a pair of Audio Zenith PMx2's (heavily modified Oppo PM-2's), I'd go with the PMx2's.

I'm a 2 channel guy that is just getting into serious headphones, but the variance in tonal signature, build quality, and responsiveness in headphones is phenomenal (wild wild west stuff). Utopias are the only headphones that come close to the PMx2's and the feeling of "being right" that I get with my B&W 802d3's.

Here is an extensive write we did after spending an exhaustive (and exhausting) week audtioning ~12 high end phones: Things So Impossible: Headphone Quest

I go back and forth between the LCD-4's and the Utopia's as to which is the better...they do complement one another well if one's wallet allows it

The Utopias arrived tonight and are an absolute joy right out of the box. More to follow.
