Default Any Pipe Smokers?

Any good smokes recently? I've been trying the Deep Hollow and Grey Havens from McClelland, both excellent. Deep Hollow is a rich chocolatey smoke, while Grey Havens is a bitter sweet complex but relaxing smoke. Also, I have been loving Navy Flake from Mac Barens, very nice, thick smoke with hints of honey and a soothing aroma

I used to and my favorite was Gordon Bennett from a now sadly defunct centuries old tobacconist;it's also now defunct as well, as it was made in zimbabwe. Creamy with a hint of vanilla yet with serious body at the same time. Ahm puffing nicorette inhalators now, which have more than a hint of menthol but nowt else.

It-Gordon Bennett- also had hazelenut, caramel, a trace of blackcurrant and a stabilising woodyness to counterbalance the cream and vanilla.

I've been known to pick up a pipe on rare occasion. My local shop carries all custom blends.

My daily work pipe is a Falcon because they can be disassembled to clean, and can take a real beating. Got machine oil on your hands while working on the lathe? No problem with a metal stemmed pipe--just wipe 'em off and keep going. A nice briar or Meershaum just gets banged up and are better suited for leisurely enjoyment in my opinion.

" a cigerette is to be smoked, a cigar is to be enjoyed and a pipe is to be savoured "

if ya like Virginia's
here's a few recommends..

McClelland's
virginia #27
backwoods flake
dark star

Cornell & Diehl (RIP Craig Tarler)
opening night
briar fox
manhattan afternoon > cased with a lil honey
interlude > cased with a lil honey too

if you like an aromatic, Lane's 1Q is claimed to be the best selling in the US.
i like the 1Q best in a cob.. my preferred briar pipes are Peterson and Savinelli.

Hbar

the best antiques are old friends

I like the Navy Flake myself.
I always carry 2 pipes for rotation purpose!

Cold weather is here. Now is the time to break out the nose warmer!

I keep contemplating a pipe, but then I see the prices and since I have no idea if I will like it I just keep passing it up. I need to just take the plunge as it always smells wonderful.

Pipe tobacco is almost free over the net. compared to cigars.

Buy a great pipe and you will have it forever. A cheap pipe and you will upgrade in 45 days. Then you purchased two!

Larry Roush makes the best pipes that you actually have a chance to purchase. Get on his list. You have about 2 minutes when he send his emails out. He is considered one of the best pipe makers alive, by some..
