I'm using a Jolida tube integrated amp, JD1000RC, with my WP8's. I sometimes use a Krell 400xi integrated, also. I prefer the sound of the Jolida. I'd like to get a CJ ET5 pre and a CJ tube amp or hybrid, eventually. I attend every RMAF and visit dealerships whenever I can, in order to hear many amps and preamps and speaker combinations. I have heard EAR, CJ and in my listening room and while better to my ears than the Jolida, mainly a little more definition, it was not a vast difference. I am amazed at what a $2000 tube integrated can do.

I am using a MC402 to drive my Sophia II's via Transparent cables. Very happy with the sound. Auditioned them with Krell amplification as well. The MC402 made the Sophia's sing compared to the Krell.

I've extensively heard Wilson with Lamm amplification, some tube & some hybrid. My new Sashas really love the Lamm M1.2s, and so do I.

Dan D'Agostino Momentum amps with Sasha and Mezzo. It is my favorite combo now.

In my room the Maxx 3's are very neutral. Therefore if you want to hear what's on the source I recommend my 1.2KW's or a Krell Evo 600. With the Mac's the Maxx's have a chameleon like quality to sound sweet when the source is sweet and harsh when the source is harsh but they always manage to sound good at the same time. If you have the listener/romantic mentality an excellent high powered tube amp is the way to go. If you want to hear exactly what's there a Krell or Mac or any other really neutral high powered SS amp is perfect. The Maxx 3 is neither a romantic or ruthlessly revealing LS. It seems to reveal the source better than anything I have heard and yet manages to sound superb in so doing. I find myself enjoying CD's on the Maxx's that I hated on the XRT 30's but at the same time I could hear all the flaws of the recording even more clearly, if that makes any sense.

Have you heard your Sashas with Lamm gear? If so, how does the Spectral gear compare?

WOW! My new Sashas are beginning to give up the goods. The break in period has been an emotional armageddon for me. Day one, listening was blissful. Day two, there was a huge hole in the soundsatge on the left side. Day three, it equalized a bit, but got dark. Day four, that pesky hole showed up on the right side. Day five, ahhhhh! I'm told that this will continue to happen until there is about 1000 hours on the Sashas. I just want you all to know that my Lamm M1.2s are wrestling all the pearls out of the Sashas. The Wilson/Lamm pairing is as good as it gets.
