Default Just like MasterLu, well kinda…

Warning Disclaimer: The following is supposed to be taken in jest.

I was so impressed reading the thread and seeing the pictures of Ivan’s Sonus Faber Aida arriving at the Cape, that I thought I would chronicle the arrival of my new Magnepan 3.7 speakers.

As you may recall Ivan’s Aida arrived by semi truck. Well not to be out done, so did mine, courtesy of my dad and his pickup truck. If I didn’t know better I would have guessed that Ivan is from Texas because everything is bigger in Texas.

Ivan had a nice shot of him and Lu Jr. standing next to his superbly packed in marine plywood Aida speakers. So here is a picture of me with my best flannel shirt on standing proudly next to my just arrived Magnepan 3.7 speakers .

My speakers came in a card board box but I guess Italy is a little farther away than Minnesota. Notice the close up of the Cherry wood finish which I think adds a nice touch of elegance. Now I have to admit that the finish on Ivan’s Aida’s is drop dead gorgeous!

Because my two channel system is in my living room, when not listening critically, the Maggies are push up close to the wall. I didn’t add the resistors to the mid range and treble but I did install the Empirical Design custom jumpers that Darrin turned us on too. I thought I would wait it out till the Maggies settle in on their own 600 hours from now. That could take a while. Now I must confess that I did remember to put in the ribbon tweeter jumpers but it took me about a week to realize there are ribbon tweeter guards on the back of the speakers that needed to be removed. Wow did things open up after taking those off. I am totally blown away by the 3.7’s and know as others have mentioned, it gets much better with time.

Mike
Thanks for the photos. I haven't heard the 3.7s but I have always enjoyed the 3.6's. You should be a very happy listener for years to come. Jim

Mike... Everything looks great. I would also guess that the Maggies weigh nothing near the 600lbs like Aida or you are very strong. Sit back and enjoy and please update us on their sound as you rack up the hours listening to them.
