My Ref5se arrived today. WOW. How did they fit the subwoofer into a preamp? This is a totally different beast than the Ref5. This really has an iron fist over my amp. Also, it came with a METAL remote. Who knew? Finally a nice ARC remote!

A metal cased remote? Honestly? Not even the ref anniversary came with a metal remote. I second the motion for pictures, please!

Hope the metal remote is done nicely.
I have seen DCS's metal remote. That's terrible implementation. They just use all the buttons from cheap plastic remote and put in metal case. The best design remote for me is Mark Levinson 326s's. I've even designed a dream ARC remote that has a look to match ARC face plate. It would be nice if my dream come true.

The remote is exactly the same layout as the plastic one, but made of metal. Slightly larger, and much heavier. I have a pic, not sure how to post pics on this site...

I set up my ref5se on Wed. Finally got over to the cabin to hook up. Works very well ootb with the ref150 and duettes. Mine has the same black hard plastic remote...same style as my ref phono 2se.

Will have to schedule some more "work from the cabin" days to work through the 600 hours

Are you positive about the remote? I just checked with my dealer who shipped me my unit and he said mine came with the plastic remote.

My preamp is the silver/natural version, and the remote matches it. Is your Ref5se silver or black?
