At a lower price point my WW Electra 7 cords work very well with my Audioquest Niagara 1000 conditioner. It's relative to the gear it's feeding, both in price and current demands.

Power conditioners have a good sounding name and conjure noise filtering and power protection. However, they typically reconstruct the AC which impedes the power line (limit peak current in some way to the electronics). This results in compressing the dynamic range of the music thus robbing the bass for instance & blurring the sound.

Ok, I'll go hide now.

Very true.....I had a "power conditioner" in a previous system, eventually pulled it. They tend to condition out dynamics and bass.

Cheers

Same for me....I find power distributors that are not current-limiting (e.g. a Hydra or Triton) to be much more effective. The AC regenator I tried didn't do much, either.

I agree power conditioners a few years ago were current limiting and made systems sound less transparent. But from a couple I've heard lately and reviews I've read indicate progress has been made. My Niagara 1000 power strips bear testament to this progress. I'm interested in going upmarket with conditioners given my experience so far. AudioQuest Niagara 5000 and 7000 conditioners have gotten good reviews, as have Shunyata and PS Audio conditioners and regenerators. I'm looking for good synergy with the initial investment I've made with the WW Platinum cords, but am open to migrating the entire loom if desired.

Oh most definitely -- technology in power products is leaps and bounds greater than say just 4-7 years ago. I'm not sure about the others you listed but the Audioquest Niagra 7000 is an AC line isolation transformer which as such is not really designed to address dynamic loads from amplifiers.

Best Sir,

Bob

That's correct. Isolation transformers can cause issues from impedance, inductance and reactance and these can be issues for dynamic loads from amplifiers.
