I'm so sorry and sad to read of this!
Hi Bob, It's never good to get that news. Sorry to read that about your friend! I'm a veteran also but no one from suicide yet. Lost one to cancer. However since I retired from the fire service 8 years ago, I have had two friends/co workers kill themselves. You are right reach out if at all possible.
