Default The Terror.

Just finished watching 10 episodes of The Terror. Based on the true events of the 1845 ill-fated expedition by the Royal Navy in search of the Northwest Passage (Arctic). If you like "adventure" type of movies, this one won't let you down. The story slowly develops as the Terror and sister ship Erebus get trapped in the Arctic Ice with no way to go forward, nor retreat, all hands must fight for their survival as the supplies and hope diminish.

The Northwest Passage (NWP) is, from the European and northern Atlantic point of view, the sea route to the Pacific Ocean through the Arctic Ocean, along the northern coast of North America via waterways through the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. The eastern route along the Arctic coasts of Norway and Siberia is accordingly called the Northeast Passage (NEP).

The various islands of the archipelago are separated from one another and from the Canadian mainland by a series of Arctic waterways collectively known as the Northwest Passages or Northwestern Passages.

For centuries, European explorers sought a navigable passage as a possible trade route to Asia. Until 2009, the Arctic pack ice prevented regular marine shipping throughout most of the year. Arctic sea ice decline has rendered the waterways more navigable for ice navigation.

Thanks Serge, I’ll definitely look for that. In a similar vein, have you ever read “Scott and Amundsen” by Roland Huntford? Excellent book about Scott and Amundsen’s race to the South Pole. They made a mini-series out of it in the 80s which I remember as being quite good, called The Last Place on Earth. I think the book now goes by that title as well.
