My local Jazz festival. Day 2 today, Day 1 was fine and varied with the Ruby Rushton quartet of flute, trumpet, keyboards and drummer giving us a fine original band to end the South stage with. Cymande, who were and early 70's soul/funk group, closed the Main stage. Fun and a tad populist; I had to wait to the last act to hear trumpet solo's, the day had many boogie moments, and a Lebanese/Middle east feel with Don Kipper, blighty lads backing a Sufi type lady singer. Theon Cross, with his bass Tuba had a fine lady sax and an ethereal keyboard player. Only one not so good act, so I popped home for tea during the duration. Today promises a purer jazz tincture with a Ronnie Scott's 60 year celebration day.
