Default Big help for a newbie

The search function is great. Threads like this are invaluable to tube noobs like myself.

Nice write ups

Not to be left out, my congratulations on a wonderfully insightful review.

It seems each amplifier has its own niche and strength. There is no perfect amplifier and no free lunch.

I would like to see Mcintosh add a true balls to the wall tube amp like AR’s Ref 750. Maybe the New York crew could do it in three chassis like the 2KW.

Now let’s see how the MC2152 fits into the hierarchy.

I listened to the new MC2152 this past Saturday At Overature on Saturday. They were using the C2600 pre, MT5 turntable with the Sumiko Bluepoint and playing thru the Sonus Faber Cremonese speakers and will have to say it was really good. Very detailed with a bit of warmth. Very impressed. Nice amp for 15K

Mike, Tim, 45....
I’m glad you found my review helpful. I’m certainly not an audio novelist but it was fun to write.

Delmac - the MC 2162 fills a hole in the McIntosh tube amp lineup between the MC 275VI and a pair of MC 2301’s. I’m looking forward to auditioning it this summer.

Tom, your review was excellent but in the hobby of high end audio and all the reviews of things and topics that are much less than even "subjective", a more appropriate term would be "fictionist" not "novelist"... The cable and tweak reviews take the top spot as that requires true "talent" and "stretch of imagination" to put into words, paper and pass it on as something of a fact. Well, a talent is a talent and this hobby is based on fantasy that stokes the imagination and fills the voids and lust of high end audio boxes promising audio nirvana! So be it, no harm in that other than the wallet, right?

Have you considered a tube amp? I am curious how a MC275 would mate with the KHorns? Must be somebody here Hi has herd that combo.
Oh yea. Heard mono blocked 275s on scalas and khorns more than one location. 275s have great bass on Heritage horns.

Right now mono 275s on cornscalas.

Awesome thread and review.
