Again, another good point. I just listed my 6922 related stash. The E288cc's may not be right for this application - I'm aware that they draw a different current. Words to the wise. |

Anthony
I spoke to Jeff at Conrad Johnson and he stated that a load did NOT need to be conducted for burn in. He suggested that running music through the preamp set at 60 in gain would be sufficient. |

Hi Joe,
That is good to know. Thanks for finding that out. I am sorry for providing incorrect information regarding that earlier. Anthony Last edited by plurn; 03-03-2016 at 09:25 AM. |

teflon burn in
I think there's more voodoo than science behind all of this, but I burned in my Classic SE with a load at all times, on the theory of "it can't hurt." Not that I doubt in the least what the CJ rep said, but I'm personally not comfortable running amplification equipment designed to run with a load without a load. Call me superstitious. I also believe the break-in source should be music rather than pink/white/other noise, because the former is what you'll be listening to. Again, superstition everywhere (as the song goes).

I really liked the EAT E88CC in the ET3SE...made it just a bit more mellow to my ears. The tube was pretty microphonic, however, and I ultimately went back to the CJ sourced 6922.

I haven't changed tubes yet but the ET3 SE has really changed!! More detail, wider soundstage. The Teflon caps are breaking in. The performance gets better every day.
