Truth be told, that only happens when I play it really loud, which is pretty rare.

I want to be able to listen to music and all it's frequencies until i am too old to remember how to play a disk, so I use ear protection whenever I do anything that makes noise.

BTW, that speaker needs spikes. It's shaking!

I covet thy neighbor's speakers.

I'm only human.

Wow! I bet this system is wonderful. Looks great Gary. I'm sure a ton of thought went into this, it shows.

System looks great. It must reproduce a life sized sound stage.

Congratulations Gary on a superb system. I heard the IRS-V's in a chance visit to Tivoli Hifi in 1991. My brother and I wandered in to have a look & were invited by one of the sales guys to have a listen to these speakers hooked up to massive Electrocompaniet mono blocks. The IRS-V's servo-controlled woofers produced tight, thunderous bass, whilst the two lacquered rosewood towers housing 24 emims & 72 emits produced incredible sound with etherial "reach out and touch it" imaging and dynamics which mimicked the live event. That was an awesome experience & definitely got me hooked on audio!

Great system Gary and thanks for sharing. Those Infinity V's with the MC602's must be an awesome match -- Arnie did good and no wonder they are referred to as Reference.

I would love to hear them and imagine I'd just melt in the sweet spot.

Best

Bob

Thank you all for your comments.

David, I was hooked on those speakers when I first listened to an earlier version of the IRS when I couldn't afford it. They really do reproduce a wonderful sound stage. The sound really appears to come from the entire front of the room, not the speakers. Mike Kaye (RIP) at Lyric HiFi was very kind spending time with me listening to them with the Goldmund TT and Jadis amps.

Bob, the sweet spot is really quite large. Moving around the room, the sound staging doesn't change very much at all. The MC602s and dedicated woofer amps give them the power to really shine. The world is blessed to have Arnie Nudell.

The only real "tweak" I have on the system is using the Pass Labs active crossover (thank you, Nelson Pass). This allows tri-amping the system so the woofers, midranges and tweeters are directly driven by their own respective power amps.

I am certainly envious. The IRS-V's are still the most awesome speakers i've ever heard. I've never heard a speaker which could produce such phenomenal imaging, sound staging & lifelike dynamics. And the deep gloss of the rosewood midrange/tweeter panels is incredible! It's good to know Graz can supply refurbished EMIM's. I can't recall if he is offering refurbs on the Emits? I know from talking to Graz the upgraded drivers are better than the original spec.

Great audio rack. Those speakers are insane. I hope you dont live in an earthquake prone area, you would be killed instantly if they fell on you.

What exactly are the inner.... objects? Speakers too?
