I had a Salamander rack holding all my gear, then switched to two Adona racks to separate my 2-channel gear from my HT gear. I haven't noticed an auditory difference, but the Adona gear feels more substantial and the gear is more accessible on them. Assembly is a bit time consuming, but not complicated. After the initial assembly, adjustments are not that bad at all, just takes more time than with Salamander. By the way, I was not disappointed at all with Salamander. I just needed sturdier, lower-profiled racks.

Late to the party here...I own two Adona Zero GXT racks...their top of the line. Very well contructed and sound great. Their multi element shelves with granite tops are key. There is no better value $$$ in audio racks out there imho. They are completley adjustable too. You decide the space between shelves. They are very heavy.

I have had an Adona AV-45 rack for about a year. It replaced a Salamander. I like that it is totally open and adjustable. And it's built like a tank.

Those with the Adona racks, is there ANY side swaying to those racks at all? For instance if you lightly push one column, does the rack move back and forth in a ringing, vibrating motion?
And speaking of ringing, when you tap on the extrusions that they use for columns, does it ring like a bell or is it damped in some way?

I have a hardwood floor that transfers vibrations to the two terrible racks I've owned and set the racks vibrating along with the turntable on the top shelf. I want a solid solution to the problem. I've always thought about a piece of granite on the floor and a rack on top of it, but haven't tried that yet, although I suspect it might be a fairly cheap and easy solution. The Adona racks don't seem to break the bank if they give excellent results, though.

The Adona racks are very stable and solid. The newer Reference series looks better than the Signature series I own. You can set them up and connect them in several different ways. I have mine joined in the middle for additional stability.

Erm, if Salamander is too expensive for what it is you can go REALLY cheap. Not recommended if you're married, though.

I owned several Adona Sig series along with a Salamander Twin 30 and Quad 30.....the Adona is built much better than the Salamander, the adona does not sway, has adjustable shelves and has lot's of mass.....the Salamander isn't very stable IMO it will sway, my Quad 30 was down right scary and not turntable friendly being able to put alot of gear in a small area and having adjustable shelves were Salamander strong points, I would not own one again however.....the Adona was a good rack but took up much more space then I liked and when you go four shelves high its up there hieght wise also a bit pricey. I'm currently using Solid Steel racks and like them.

Finite Elemente would be the racks I would own if I could afford them.

I appreciate the valuable input from everyone. Call me crazy but I think that system looks pretty cool on the masonry blocks! No side sway there!

Jeff, what solid steel rack do you use or like? I recently looked at their website. They seem to be very well priced but I was questioning the turntable worthiness of them. The concept of mdf shelves gives me pause, as well. Having used a modular system (cheap-o VTI), I would avoid it based on how the top shelf would shake when walking nearby. That's what had me considering a solution with more mass...

Thanks,
Christian
