Doug.... They really do different things. I use HRS plates on everything but my amps, along with rollerblocks w/ tungsten balls.

Really gets the finer details, micro dynamics to jump out!

How do you deal with HRS Damping Plates and the McIntosh components having ventilation holes or slots? Specifically components such as the MVP881BR, MEN220, MCD1100, C1000T & C1000C, all of which have dozens of ventilation ports (holes or rectangles) cut into the metal top covers. Have you experienced component overheating when using these HRS plates?

What about those components having the schematics on the top covers such as the MDC1100, C1000T & C1000C - do you use HRS plates on top of these schematics?

For what it's worth, I think the HRS plates make an audible difference and use them on my McIntosh components (except the MC2301s).

There are zero ventilation/heating issues from using the HRS damping plates on all my source components.

I use a single plate, and it doesn't cover up the schematic since it is placed toward the front on each.

I find them very beneficial in the way they improve micro details in the music, by eliminating unwanted vibrations, and cabinet resonances.

I’ve experienced the same improvements (lower noise floor, enhanced micro details and improved resolution) using Dynamat Extreme inside the chassis cover and on various locations of the bottom of the chassis. All for a niminal cost.

Mike do tell about the Dynamat Extreme, which onne did you us?e did you put it on the entire top? Any pics

Sorry for being late in responding. I just used the regular Dynamat Xtreme (although there are similar products out there that cost less, but you don't need a lot of it for a component. I don't have pics, but I applied it to the inside of the top cover and sides of my MCD205. Also a few spots on the bottom of the chassis inside the cabinet. Of course, the ventilation holes aren't covered. It improved the resolution to an audible degree. A good tweak for a few $$.

HRS has three new Damping Plates with the same LxW dimensions but 1.3" thick as compared to the original 0.7" models. The new models are designated DPX while the originals are designated DPII.

I asked HRS if they could make different size plates (different L, W or H), but was told the tooling required would make oddball sized plates too expensive to mass produce.
