Dan - Really wish I had... there was no warning that it was a complete revision so usually the upgrades are just patches n stuff so it just seemed like a harmless periodic software update when it asked me to upgrade... hmmm... there's also another old saying about Apple IT designers being the first up against the wall when the revolution comes

So I've stuffed around for the morning and eventually realised if i turned off gapless playback so it's not trying to cache the whole album into memory play it will not crash mostly... seems to be working so far with memory play, still occasionally crashing and the loading into memory play seems significantly longer which means the computer is working harder which is not good IMO.

With the new 1.88a version of Pure Music the aim was to make the playback better by making the computer work less as I understand it... with the 10.7 itunes the loading into memory play seemed much easier for the Mac Air... Soooo if I could go back in time I wouldn't be clicking on that upgrade to itunes11 button... I just picked the wrong week to give up meth amphetamine... will put on the just released hi-res Willie Nelson Stardust and listen to Blue Skies and then take advantage of the day to a trip to the ocean and few laps of the ocean baths to wash off the remains of an Apple conspired technobabbling morning.

If you run Pure Music think twice before iTunes 11... not a good idea IME... though definitely go to Pure Music 1.88a, a bigger/deeper soundstage and quite a nice step more resolved in terms of air.

Good to know since I use pure music too. Usually a major revision number does indicate a major upgrade, i.e. 11.0 is a major revision, 11.1 is a minor revision, 11.1.1 would be a very minor revision.

thanks Derek... I'll learn eventually.

Truth is I love the upsides of the reign of Apple, so occasionally the throw us a wobbly that's OK and they may well be the evil empire instead of our great salvation... time will be the judge of that. But I will however definitely pay more attention to the numbers next time.

There is also an update to the iPad remote app. Played around with it just now, I like it.

I've tested several albums using Pure Music and only the first album choked on reading from memory. I closed iTunes, hit Pure Music launching iTunes, dragged FLAC files into the drop window, and created the bookmark. Then dragged it to my playlists and hit play. no issues. I updated Pure Music yesterday before updating iTunes a few hours ago. Checking and unchecking memory play also worked. Now albums play all the way through on memory play.

Big changes always bring problems, I suspect channel D will update soon. I'll wait to hear from you before I go to 11..

The white is ugly as ****!

I don't understand why the change to drop down menus. We went from one click to get what we want (music, movies, TV shows) to two clicks. Is that more efficient in the world of UI design?

I only use iTunes for music, not TV Shows or Movies etc... So I like not having the extra column on the left side taking up space.
