Default Rodney Crowell Concert

Last night I had the opportunity to see Rodney Crowell at The Ark in Ann Arbor. I own a few of his albums and consider him one of the better singer/songwriters in the alt-country genre. For several years I have appreciated the word-play in the music he writes.

I had a perfect seat last night (it is hard not to get a good seat at The Ark). Dead center and positioned just like sitting in my 2-channel room. I don't remember too many concerts where I could close my eyes and think I was sitting home listening to my system. It was a paired down set with just a second guitarist and a fiddle player (the house fiddler for the Grand Ole Opry). Both of the supporting players were excellent musicians. Crowell's voice was a good live as on any of his recordings.

All in all a two hour set that more than exceeded my expectations. A steal at $45 per ticket.

We saw him in St Louis a couple months ago, opening for Tommy Emmanuel. A real treat...his banter between songs was as witty as his lyrics.
