The authorized dealer I ordered mine from 3 weeks ago quoted me $13999 Can as MSRP...And he gave me a substantial discount on that price to close the sale. Not sure why there is such a difference in price between the two countries, but in this case, it is good for me.Why the distributor quoted the higher price is a mystery, but I was quoted the same price from two different Accuphase dealers.

I’ve emailed Audio Alliance (Canadian distributor) about the price of the Accuphase and would have had more luck asking for an arm, a leg and their first born than getting a price... I don’t understand why the whole secrecy for a price.

I ended up asking a dealer at the Montreal audio show who told me 14,000$ for the E-600 (at the time) plus 1500$ for each extra boards (DAC and phono). That was 2 years ago...

That's the same quote I received. I as well don't understand the secrecy. It is after all a Suggested retail price...obviously dealers sell for whatever the market will accept. And my quote was a month ago.

Is the «*attenuator*» button on the E-650 like a mute button?

Seems to be like this on both sides of the border. Prices aren't generally displayed....you are asked to call for the price. I have no idea why this is so. Perhaps someone can explain the reasoning. As to the "grey market", I'm sure like everywhere there are individuals getting the Japanese model with the voltage convertor, though Accuphase is very explicit that this is not recommended, not warranted, and very likely will result in poor performance and possible damage. Not worth the risk in my opinion.

Accuphase is not the only manufacturer that does not publish their retail prices. Burmester, McIntosh and Esoteric are just a few that follow suit.

I happen to sell quite a bit of Accuphase in the USA; grey market rarely if ever comes up.

You can easily find pricing on the internet. Just don’t search for prices in yen and convert to US dollars unless you want to be in shock.
