I prefer spades but, if I had to, locking bananas would be a wise choice.

There are bananas and there are bananas. The traditional type did have limited contact surface but the newer BFA type have greater contact surface.

I have bananas but I don't like how the cable has to bend 180 degrees off of both my 800 Diamonds and Mac amp for the cable to lie on the floor. I would prefer spades for that reason only. Not that the bend should affect anything, just piece of mind.

Thanks Kal for sharing that. I have seen AQ BFA but decided to go with spades. As you said BFA types definitely have more surface area contact than regular ones...

I use both on the amp end for bi-wiring purposes but spades on the speaker end. As long as secure contact is made there are no perceivable differences to be heard.

Spades here but had a Audioquest set from my last setup with them. Any downside form either?

As long as you are not often disconnecting and reconnecting, they are both functionally the same.

I had always thought that no connector is preferable as it eliminates joints in the system... That being said, I have spades on the amplifier ends and bananas plugged into the speakers.
