I do hope you get all you hope for out of the experience. It really can be very rewarding and please don't be put off by the odd dog of a record. The owners of some pressing plants should be put in the stocks but informed opinion here and in other fora will point you towards reliable labels. Best Peter |

I'm afraid the idea of a built in non by-passable internal phono stage would put me right off this, it just seems a dead end - if you want to improve things you not only need to buy a phono stage sometime, but also a new deck. Also slightly bemused why you'd need a headphone amp on a record deck?

Because it's marketed for young hipster who are going to listen to it in their dorm with headphone and who don't have a system

Because hey, why carry all your tunes on an i.pod when you can have the pleasure of lugging some vinyl around with you Seriously thou, for only a few hundred more you can get to the VPI Traveller, or the Clearaudio MM Concept, both with all the cash thrown at what really counts & without the built in obsolescence. |

This might be heresy, but can I not see a nice girl to talk to opposite him and the potential of a beer to enjoy in that picture? And an ash-tray that close to his LPs?!!
I think matey-boy needs to reassign his priorities! |

Hi Brian,
I was looking at the same options as you where for my first venture into vinyl. Pro-ject or Rega RP-3 in combination with Pro-Ject Phonobox. I had even set myself a budget of around 800-1000 euro Both then I stumbled across a second hand VPI Scout sitting at the Rega dealer in my town. I dind't complete blew my budget on that table (I did on the cartrigde.... but that can also be done later ) Looking back I'm very glad I spent a little bit more and ended up with a table that will last me a very, very long time. After getting the table I've now also upgraded my phono stage and all is great in my (vinyl) world |
