Saw these at a local dealer, they are a fine looking table. |

image-2637839303.jpg I may have to amend the comment about preferring recordings of live music on this TT. I just put on Govt Mule - By A Thread, and OMG this puppy just rocks. Bass slam, but tight, and Warren Haynes guitar is just singin'. Wow... image-3258676998.jpg

Let me add one more point - when switching from 331/3 to 45 to 78 rpm it's easy peasey, no moving belts, et al. Just push a button and you're good to go. With more LPs coming out as 45s, like the one below that I just put on, that saves a lot of hassle.

Haven't heard much about the current Clearaudio DC Performance Wood w/Satisfy arm. Trying to decide between this TT and the VPI prime.

Go for the Clearaudio! The birch wood versions are still fairly new so not a lot of these tables have hit hands yet to generate buzz - but I'd suspect they're awesome. Better yet, upgrade to the new Tracer arm while you're at it. Clearaudio has been working improvements & upgrades into their line over the years (e.g. pulley upgrades for the Innovation line a few years ago), while keeping the core designs/models the same - because they're really good. VPI seems to burn through lineups, models, and MK #s like underwear and that doesn't prop up my consumer confidence; just my observation.
I upgraded to a Master Innovation that is simply a marvel to me. |

I don't have experience with that combo but at least on the surface the Dyna 20 XL and Satisfy looks like a nice package. Should be a fine match for mass & compliance, plus 2 quality products where neither outclasses the other. The 20 XL was the first cartridge I heard (at a friend's, with a P75 MK I phono stage) which started me thinking about vinyl. Nice experience! Sounds like a really sweet system you have there. Personally I wouldn't want anything to do with a VPI unipivot arm. I remember feeling the "wobble" on one of these 10 years ago, and it gave me the willies. Plus I've been hearing the various complaints about these arms for years, too. At least they do have a gimbal offering now. |

Get the TT5 arm iwith swivel base if you go with Clearaudio. Am giving some thought to adding one to my VPI as a second arm.
Never had a problem with a VPI arm or TT and have been using them for many years. If you understand how a unipivot arm works it should give great performance. At least mine have always done so.

Sorry for the rant but dealers with their own agenda are the reason this hobby is dying. |
