I don't think so, at least not as much as one would think. The majority of systems will still be conventional 5.1/7.1, as most folks would not want to install overhead speakers, and the Mx150/151 will support this to the highest lossless resolution. Besides the new Atmos/DTS-x formats, I think the only other interesting feature will be for anyone looking at supporting 4k, but then there's workarounds with that. So I think the mx150/151 will still be highly sought after in the used market to keep prices near where they're at.

Just look at the latest from Marantz and you will get an idea of the 160's capabilities.

Yes that would work.

Light intensity can be improved if you can find a way to use the unlit elements for a period of time. The OCD in me has caused me to resort to pushing different buttons on the remote getting those display segments to light up.

Short of that, replacing the display is the only solution. If you're handy with a screwdriver and, possibly, a soldering iron, that may be the way to go. Chances are the display is hooked up via removable connectors which would make it very easy.

You're implying it's a rebadged 8802? I don't think so...the preliminary photos and details posted on AVS show it very much a progression of the 151, which was not based on any D&M product. 121 yes...

I agree. Seems to me the 151/16x series will remain the in-house built flagship Control Center. That being said, the 121 has been perfect for me, regardless of pedigree.

Didn't expect them to announce this soon, let alone be shipping product! Otherwise looks like a promising unit, but $14K!!!

I was in no way inferring that a D&M based solution wasn't the best option for McIntosh. I had been told that when D&M sold McIntosh they agreed to continue to supply future AV solutions.
