Whether amplifiers are consecutively numbered or not doesn't influence my purchase decision unless there are several thousand numbers difference which would make one amplifier considerably older than the other. Some people feel it is important to have consecutive serial numbers but I am not one of them. If the serial numbers are consecutive that's cool but if not, it doesn't really concern me provided the differences are not huge.

As for resale value there may be that person who thinks consecutive serial numbers are important but by and large most buyers are not concerned. The condition of any pre-owned amplifier is a more important factor than a serial number. Opinions may vary but that's my take on it.

Dan's MC2301's were ordered consecutively on purpose and the gold lion tubes were not only matched in sets but between amps. Who would have thought an audiophile could show a little OCD could once in a while.
