Bearcity... Wow, Alexander is 10 miles from my house as the crows fly, 35 minutes by truck, car or motorcycle to Glade Mountain where I have my office and residence next door. Your office is at the top of Asheville in the coolest of three buildings in a row. I have often dreamed of having the top two floors of the tower looking building next door on the corner of Pack Square and South Market (the underground café building). You could play an awesome rig with no neighbors high up in the sky line with a 360 view of the mountains.
Looks like I may follow the Dennis Had Inspired Amps threads as I am getting back into tubes.
Cheers to living in the “Land of the Sky” as it is sometimes referred to.

Thank you Jdsmoke, I sure am enjoying my new Silenzio/Bryston combo. The sound is sublime paired with the gear I have running. It's probably a gateway drug to Esoteric... fortunately for now I am in hog heaven.

If you are looking for great tube midrange and all around top to bottom performance, it’s hard to beat the MC 2301’s. One caveat - they don’t sound ‘tubey’ so if you are looking for that classic tube sound you’ll need to look elsewhere.

At the moment I want consecutive SN 2301s before they go out of production.

And a cream-puff mc240 for testing TAD 2002 drivers (40 watts is all I need for the HFs).

The Jackson building of which you speak is a real gem on the skyline, I agree. If the top two floors become available I’ll let you know. In the meantime, if you are downtown someday during business hours give me a shout. My office rig is all tubes and my neighbors don’t mind when I crank it.

I bought both my sets used with consecutive S/N’s so they are out there. Happy hunting!

Note that there is a serial number break and you want the newest S/N’s with prefix ADA.

-E- …Yes, they are B&W801M Matrix 801 series 2.
I have those Bi-Wired, and consider them part of my “marriage saver” collection of home loudspeakers. I listen at around 75 to 80 dB C-weighted in a small 7’ triangle for close proximity listening so the bass does not fill the entire house. They look a little like R2-D2 with the fibercrete hexagonal mid enclosure, tweet on top, and single 12” woofer.

I really need to edit my last post if that is possible. That should have read 75 to 80 dB. Not even sure if the 24 year old 801 would be happy playing that loud.

Well that was easy. Thank you Ivan. I also noticed my original post reads excluding and should have been including diy crystal radios, I especially enjoyed making the razor blade detector radios. Would you be so kind to fix that error as well?
