MUSIC:
Thursday (5/16) & Friday (5/17): Music for the Claude Thornhill Orchestra. Thursday will feature a vocal quartet plus a slightly larger big band, and Friday will include music written in 1947 for an extended ensemble, which includes an additional three-person flute/piccolo section. Over these two nights we will premiere 13 new charts - five of which have never before been performed or recorded.
Saturday (5/18) & Sunday (5/19): Selections from Gil’s well known recordings including Individualism of Gil Evans, Out of the Cool, New Bottle Old Wine, as well as music written for a variety of vocalists, and previously unrecorded works featured on the two, Grammy Award-nominated, Gil Evans Project albums.
