Is there any word on a new DAC? I emailed McIntosh yesterday and they just shined me on to the MCD1100. But I would prefer a new DAC personally as all my CDs are now ripped and boxed up.

I'm surprised McIntosh hasn't introduced tiered MVP models... after all they have lower- and higher-end CD players, amps, etc. I for one don't need a Blu-ray player with 8 discrete super high-end DACs, and I don't really want to pay for them either. Since it's all going to get converted back to digital once the signal hits my MX150, there's really no reason to use anything but HDMI for audio... offering a "low-end" player with fewer bells and whistles, closer to a $4-5k price point, along with the 881 or whatever succeeds it, would probably result in more sales all around.

I am in complete agreement that the the Mac speaker line is in need of improvement. In addition to a line of powered subwoofers a reference speaker between the 1K and the 2K is needed. The subwoofers cabinets should be of aluminum. Although I have spectacular dynamics, soundstage, and imaging with my current setup, I for one would be highly interested in an upgraded XRT29 to augment my Krell MRS. I believe McIntosh gave up a lot when they did not upgrade the 29 but chose another path with the 1K. I love Mac's use of the line source concept in the form of the 29. The 80Hz crossover is absolutely ideal to get the max benefit out of my MRS but also any other well made subwoofer(s). If I had a wish list it would be for a line source composed of all the new Mac midrange/tweeters in about a 72 inch height column that crossed over at 80Hz. I hope they don't make it because I'd be forced to buy a pair.

How about an iPad/iPhone app that controls the MX-150 and anything else they make that has an ethernet port?

You can control the MX150 with an iPad or iPhone through Safari.

That's what I'm doing now, but an app would be easier. It's more of a wish list item.

They could at least use the new speaker terminals as on the MC601's. No rolling improvements. Michael a.k.a Volks, My C50 came with a blemish on the faceplate. I truly feel that at these price points replacement is the correct way to handle a Q.C. problem.
