John.......Don't overlook my follow up report on the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR speakers on the previous page. I apologize for overlooking your post back in July. I just missed seeing it. I can see your college dorm room in my mind, but the set up got the job done. The Sony reel to reel was a component to brag about back in the day. I had a pair of Koss Pro4AA headphones, too. Actually, I had two pair of Pro4AA. Having two pairs of the Pro4AA's really paid off one afternoon many years ago when I lived in San Francisco. Those were the days. Thanks for the follow up Dan on a superb little shop system. It's always nice to know that respectable audio does not need to cost and arm and a leg !

Dave.......I believe the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR can be considered more than just a decent shop speaker. I believe it would be a nice unobtrusive two channel or multi-channel speaker setup that could lend itself to a relatively inexpensive setup that would deliver above average sound for the invest.

I think I'm going to pick up a pair of those just to have 'em around. I could cobble together a nice little bedroom system with the Conrad-Johnson Premier 17LS, my vintage Harman-Kardon Citation 12 amp and those speakers. Move the Rega P5 in there with the EAR 834 and a Bifrost DAC and what would be not to like?

My Yamaha "alarm clock" needs some waking up in the speaker department. I see my local Fry's has these on ad for $119.99

I think I'll have to bust the SRT outta the garage Saturday and head on down to check 'em out.

I have the BS-41LR which I purchased from Fry's last week. It was on sale for $89.99 and retail is $179.99. It sounds like a $600-700 monitor speakers. This is a keeper and an excellent reference point for its price.
