I got hold of an Audioquest Diamond cable for HS-Link and have been swapping with the other ones. Audioquest seems to have a touch more detail and air than Acoustic Revive's latest LAN cable, but it seems to lack the AR's dynamics and bass. Overall timbre and tonality of AR seems a touch better too.

I'll stick with them and see what transpires

Time to resurrect the speculation on Accuphase future plans for a music streamer/server. HS-Link VER 2 as we know can handle DSD up to 5.6 MHZ and PCM up to 32/384 . The DSD_DISC spec can have a resolution of up to 5.6 Mhz , but the DP-950 seems to be limited to 2.8 Mhz in its ability to transmit DSD files using DSD_DISC.

So this raises the question, if Accuphase did not increase the spec to transmit the higher resolutions over its current digital transports, what else do they have in mind - Streamer/Server?

When I spoke to Accuphase about a digital streamer, they said No. This was about a year ago. I have the Melco and works great with the DC-37. I would have a difficult time giving up the Melco in lieu of a Accuphase streamer.

Default Accuphase streamer

Sh. Saito, Accuphase CEO, recently explained in an in interview, that Accuphase will continue with SACD, especially for the Japanese market. For any streaming he suggests the use of the USB interfaces they provide now. Accuphase is not working on any streaming devices yet.

I think it will be the same way as DP-550 to Dp-560 upgrade))))
It will be the same 950 but with higher resolution abilities - 960!

Just had the opportunity to listen to DP-950 / DC-950, with AQ Diamond RJ/E as HS-Link, vs DP-720 (DC-37).
The rest of the system was C-3850 - A70 - B&W 802 D3 with AQ WEL Signature cabling.

What struck me most was the calm in the reproduction of the combo combined with almost incredible naturalness, hard to top fine dynamics and a wealth of fully tansparent details.
IMHO a clearly audible step ahead of the predecessors DP-900 / DC-901 (and even more so the DP-720).
Those who know the difference between C-3800 and C-3850 might get the picture. In any case go out and listen for yourself. The specs do not tell you the whole story.

Whether DP-950 / DC-950 is worth its price is a subjective question.

If Accuphase is going to use the same transport and DAC in a single box unit (DP-750?), this will be a very interesting product; may be in about a years time?

I have never heard the famous ACCUPHASE sound. The DAC that I prefer so far is the NAGRA HD DAC. Very musical but very precise.

--> Is ACCUPHASE in the same emotional territory than NAGRA ?

Their TOL DP-950 (CD/SACD) + DC-950 (DAC) is at the same price than the NAGRA HD DAC + NAGRA CDT !

As DP900/DC901 owner, upgrading to 950 is very interesting. Price for both models
are considered the same. But when consider resell value of 900/901, then it becomes
impossible. I have to add close to 20,000$ for trade-in. That's not gonna worth the
sonic improvement I am sure. My alternative that could make more fun is to keep
900/901 and add a different taste CD/SACD player such as Ayon CD-35. Base on my experience with CD1SX, it is very musical. more so than my 900/901, it just lacked inner
textural details provided by two-piece Accuphase. Another alternative for me is
Esoteric P02X+D02X+G01 clock at similar price to 950.
But after I woke up from the dream, I then realized that 900/901 haven't done anything
wrong at all. They have made perfect music for me to enjoy for 4 years. Why bother now.
But of upgrade cost is within $10,000 then let me know haha.

You could change just the DC-901 DAC for the DC-950 and keep the DP-900 transport.
