Default Any 3 Gun Shooters?

My gun club runs the following course of fire for a Three Gun competition:

FIVE 8x8 steel squares at 25 yards - Shotgun with buckshot
FIVE 8x8 steel squares at 25 yards - Center-fire handgun, strong hand only
FIVE 8x8 steel squares at 50 yards - Center-fire handgun with two hands
FIVE 8x8 steel squares at 75 yards - Shotgun with slugs
FIVE 8x8 steel squares at 100 meters - Centerfire rifle standing only
FIVE 8x8 steel squares at 200 meters - Centerfire rifle standing, kneeling, sitting or prone.
30 total targets

Any sights may be used. You may shoot as many rounds as you need. You may stage pre-loaded magazines. You have no more than 30 seconds to drop all five targets at each distance.

I'd like to pick up a great handgun and shotgun for the season. I'm not really excited about using my 870 pump for the shotgun stages or my 1911 .45 for one-handed shooting. Any suggestions?

Have you watched any of the competitions? Might give you an idea of what works for others. IIRC, the Beretta 92 in 9mm is quite popular for the pistol phase.

Yes, I watched one last year. Now that you mention it, I did notice a lot of Beretta, but no one gun or approach was anywhere near optimal. People were all over the place on gear.

Pistol: I was thinking about a Ruger GP-100 357mag with a 6" barrel to provide a nice long sight radius.

Shotgun: The Benelli Vinci looks like a nice shooter
