Unfortunately, those cables are no longer made the same. The power cord department was bought out by a company called Volex, if I remember correctly. Now they're being made in China...

After much research, I came across an old electrical warehouse that agreed to pull the cables off of old appliances for me. The bad news is I ended up having to pay a great deal more for them than they should be worth. The good news is they came broken in.

There aren't many digital guys here, so I may be able to get some more to cover those interested. Send me a PM and I'll see what I can do. Looking back, I now feel that many of my previous digital sources may have failed to successfully integrate with my Shindo system because I always tried to use Shindo 2-wire power cords and the Mr. T to achieve system synergy. It took me a great deal of trial and error to bring digital and Shindo together in a truly happy marriage...

Default digital for Shindo

New to forum and just saw this thread and thought I would add my 2 cents.

My digital front end for my Giscours/GM 70's/Petite Latours is the ARC DAC 8 fed by a Sonore music server. To my ears it compares favorably to the Ayre C-5xeMP and the W4S DAC-2. The DAC 8 is very musical, coherent and yet possessing all the audiophile bells and whistles related to imaging, soundstaging, etc. It has a relaxed analog tone that suits the Shindo gear--but not lushy or mushy by any means. For some reason you don't hear much about the DAC 8 and I bought it on trial from a dealer I've known for a long time in whose ears I trust.

Be interested to know anyone else's experience with the DAC 8.

When you'll be able to post a pic of your system, please do so. It is impressive.

Great system - which do you prefer the DAC8 or WFS Dac2 and do you think that the WFS pairs well with the Shindo system as well?

Default ARC DAC 8 vs WFS DAC 2

Comparing these two DAC's may be unfair given their price difference. In my main system, the field coil Latours reveal all including the WFS's tendency to sound a little hard in the upper register. It also doesn't resolve complex passages nearly as well as the ARC DAC 8. But in my second system with a forgiving SS amp and the classic B&W Silver Signatures fed by a Sonore device via Toslink, the WFS is a joy.

BTW, to see a pic of my system you can go to Matt's site--although most everything but the speakers have evolved including the addition of Shindo's amazing 301 record player.

Spellbinding « pitch perfect audio

Thanks for the system kudos. Started with Matt a few years ago wanting to get off the nervosa merry go round that had actually made me give up listening altogether for a few years!
