I'm driving my last gas vehicle for sure.
Next will be a plug-in hybrid, followed by an electric... or hydrogen?
I never really looked but I don’t think the incentives are that great here. Living in central London I take either public transport or a cab (some of them are now electric). So my carbon footprint is not bad.

As for car I like the ability of going on a track with it so I’m sticking with petrol engine.

Electric car are not really the solution to global warming if the electricity is still coming from a coal power plant ! There is a lot of confusion on that topic. And I’m not even talking about the pollution coming from mining the metals needed for the batteries.

Weather has been changing since the beginning of time. Global warming is a figment of one's imagination for those pushing a political agenda and that includes a cow flatulence tax.

Being careful with waste and respecting the planet, is always the best practice.

Carbon-neutral construction.
The BMW Leipzig Plant, one of the most modern and sustainable car plants in the world, runs on 100% renewable energy and is completely carbon neutral. New initiatives begun in 2018 are reducing energy and water consumption even further.

This is starting to edge close to getting political. My comment is pure fact and observation (by me) based. I am 60 years old, granted less than a molecule on the surface of a drop in the bucket of geological time for context. However... I have lived all of my life except for college in South Florida, all but a handful of years on the water— salt water open to the ocean. I bought the property where I live in 1994 which is in an inlet less than 1000 feet from the open (Biscayne) Bay. Looking out from my back yard to the sea wall of the house (across water) and directly behind me the tides are at least a foot higher than the were 25 years ago— and that’s for corresponding tides types (e.g., mean high tide, King tides). I grew up on Miami Beach. There were never any flooding issues except for hurricanes when I was growing up. Now,large sections of the south end of the city has “sunny day flooding.” Looking more globally, check out the NASA and NOAA satellite photos of the Arctic in the winter and summer now, and the same going back 40 years. The difference will astound you. I’m not going to get into the cause but the results are what they are. As soon as Porche comes out with an electric Macan, I’m getting me one.

We should keep this on electric cars or Ivan may pop a blood vessel.

Cheaper to maintain https://www.ergon.com.au/network/sma...ctric-vehicles
A battery electric vehicle (BEV) has a lot less moving parts than a conventional petrol/diesel car. There is relatively little servicing and no expensive exhaust systems, starter motors, fuel injection systems, radiators and many other parts that aren’t needed in an EV.

With just one moving part – the rotor – BEVs are particularly simple and very strong. Just maintain the brakes, tyres and suspension and that’s about it.

How long/how many miles do batteries in various electric models last? What are the replacement costs?

BMW warranty is for 8 years and/or 160,000 kilometers (100,000 miles).
