I think part of the magic is not just the tube, although the WE 300b is a legendary tube and priced accordingly, but the circuit design, DHT. I'm not exactly sure how it is implemented in the Manley, there are a few line stages that are DHT- Allnic makes one, I think the Coincident is designed as one (using a later day version of the famous WE 101d 'tennis ball') tube, and there are some custom builders, including Jeff Jackson, who do these designs.
I am actually exploring using a DHT type line stage myself. And Manley is a first class outfit. I had a Steelhead, and the customer service and responsivness was as good as it gets. I also exchanged emails over a comment in a review re grounding, and she and I spoke. Enjoy your new preamp., Jerome.
