I custom made my speaker cables using Furez FZ102AS 10-2 Advanced In-Wall Rated Speaker Cable along with all other components — https://www.avoutlet.com/cables-conn...ez-fz102as-25/

Previously used Kimber Kable-12TC w/WBT 0681 CU spades. I'm happy with how they look and sound and won't go into all the typical over-the-top sound characteristics of wires.

All that really matters is one being happy and content with what they have.

Since you mentioned 12TC, I thought I'd post this. I went from Kimber 8TC to 12TC (again, my belief that heavier gauge equaled more signal transfer). What I heard was the same sound, but with more air around it. I didn't hear anything different about the music itself, but it was as though it played in a larger room, making it sound a touch more "live" to me. I also see no need to change it out for something else.

When I bought my Alexx and all my other equipment I then looked at my antiquated cabling including "everything" from speaker cables to power cords etc. I knew I had to upgrade. It was like being sucked into a vortex or whirlpool from which there was no escape except perhaps bankruptcy. But now that it is over and there is literally zero left to do, I am very happy. How does it sound? I really like it a lot but how would my system sound with really new topline copper "everything" and cheaper power conditioners? Don't know and will never know. I suspect very good. I figure one massive upgrade of this sort in a lifetime of the highend acceptable.

Yep, it does not can, but rather does get crazy, real crazy - enjoy your efforts, I will as well

That's the kind of perspective I'd like to maintain. Congratulations on being at peace with your setup.

I'm still kicking around a power cord change on my preamp. The last time I did that, I ended up replacing all of them with that same cord. But the curiosity itch rose up, and I upgraded the two on my monoblocks, but with the same manufacturer. I think as long as I stick with the same manufacturer on the preamp, there's less incentive for another overhaul. In the end, the problem isn't with the gear; it's with us and the near-insatiable desire for different or better. Contentment can go a long way toward saving some money.

As well as Meridian-America, VTL, BAT, Wilson Audio, Constellation Audio, etc.

My hypothesis is, as professionals, they have clear reasons for doing so.
Could it be similar to why some of those same places used B&W loudspeakers, back in the day? Because B&W GAVE them the loudspeakers, in exchange for being allowed to say they were being used at "X location" in advertising materials?

Don't get me wrong, I am a B&W fan, and have a pair of their speakers in my main system.
