This exact problem happened to my C2300 some time back.

I had a Marantz Network Audio Player (Streamer) unit on the shelf above the C2300. I had the preamp checked out and it was fine. The technician asked if I had a streamer and suggested I move it away from the C2300. I moved the Streamer to the shelf on the right of where it had been. The tick, tick went away and has never returned. By the way I love the Marantz player for dinner and background music. It has a great sound for a really fair price (NA6005).

Mac6.......That is interesting to hear about your issue mirroring mine. Like you, I have had no further issue with any tick, tick, tick noises since relocating the Sonos Zone Player. Hopefully our experiences will help someone in a similar situation.

Hi Tom, that’s interesting info.....have you or anyone else on here ever done comparisons in sound quality with WiFi devices turned on and then off? I’ve read that WiFi signals can have an effect even if they’re in other rooms but never done any comparisons.

Buck - I haven't done any A/B listening comparisons. I have isolated power to all my digital stuff, and moved things around until I couldn't hear any change in the background noise when the digital devices were powered on or unplugged.

WiFi devices are intentional radiators under FCC Part 15.247 which allows them to put out up to 1 watt! That's a lot of power and the potential for interference with even the best designed audio gear is very high.

So it is very likely that Dan's Sonos was operating as designed.

That would be great. When it happened to me I first changed the C2300 tubes, then had it checked by McIntosh service. The McIntosh repair person figured it out. Then I stopped sweating.......

It's amazing that moving it one shelf to the right solved the problem.

I have done quite a bit of system automation, and encountered this same issue with RF remote control antennas and repeaters.

Ivan.......I remember when you had issues with gear above the Pioneer Elite television messing with the picture in THE ROOM in Florida.

Dan... that issue was caused at high volume levels by the MC1.2KW above it radiating magnetic interference. It would distort the picture at dynamic peaks.

I solved it by placing Mu Metal between the amp and the Pioneer TV below it.
