At some point you have to get away from "brand" loyalty (McIntosh) in the Digital Audio field and move to companies that make products that work reliably and not just have meters and/or blue lights. They are just re-packaging products from other sources and putting them in cases that match up.

When you integrate your MC 2301's you should consider a dedicated McIntosh (or other brand) stereo preamp and non-McIntosh standalone DAC. That is the very best way to get high quality music into your system. The MX 122 is a great piece, but I'm confident the addition of a dedicated preamp will improve your audio experience. I use a C1100 and am more than pleased with it. It is a spectacular piece. There are a lot of other options, like the C 50, C 2600, and even a used C 500 or C 2300. Tom
