I love the A95, but I realize that I have a new cartridge and two runs of WW Gold RCA's to break in, along with the Ortofon ST-80 SUT. Lots of breaking in going on all at the same time. Having said that, the A95 is an amazing performer...level of detail is much better than my previous cart (Ortofon Cadenza Red upgraded by Sound-smith). I'm hearing things I didn't hear before, such as getting a sense for the tightness of a drum skin, or the air around a singer's voice. I'll have more to say as things break in, but right from the get-go this is pretty amazing. Also, in full disclosure, I added the VPI ring at the same time, so I did more than swap carts.

He has kicked the K03x to the curb.

Steve,
Thanks for your insight. I will probably make several upgrades and acquisitions at the time I set up the TT. The A95 is certainly on my list. As is a RR/Eagle, peripheral Ring.

Do you use a center weight with the ring, or is that superfluous?

The K-03X is most definitely not kicked to the curb, but it is taking a back seat while I get acquainted with my VPI rig.

I always use the VPI LPI (center weight. Without it there would be a tendency for the record to go convex, raised in the center. With the center weight and periphery ring you get maximum record against the platter/mat. Make sense?

Perfect sense. Thanks. I am really thinking about the A95 cartridge. Can't really test one and I would prefer to do one and done.

Using 3 belts with my Aries, also. No more slippage on start-up.

Yep! I have to help mine get to 45rpm with the belts, Periphery Ring, and LPI.

Very Nice, I have an A95 as well. Great cart!! Did you setup yourself or have a dealer do it? I have set a couple up myself but I opted for a dealer on the A95. I just wanted the peace of mind that it would be done correctly with that kind of investment.

Nice pair! Makes me realize that I have to get busy and put my Micro Seiki DDX-1000 back together.
