Only read parts of the article, but from my experience, yes as a whole black vinyl sounds better than colored, but I have some colored that sounds pretty good, and this includes picture discs. I also have some clear vinyl that is not the best either.

Long ago I was told that it’s less important the color of the vinyl and more important to get an earlier pressing. In the used bin, this means hunting down “promotional use only” copies as these were pressed first and distributed to radio stations.

In modern vinyl production, limited editions with special colors are often produced first before the mass produced black are made. I’ll often pay more for the limited edition colored version to ensure its an earlier (and better) pressing.
