From what I understand he tears them down to an empty case and replaces anything not to original spec. He also offers upgrades to the original spec such as roller bearing guides and other tasty bits.

Yup, he won’t tell you what he does to the electronics, but no need for a tape pre when he gets done. That’s why I sold my tape pre. No need for it.

I asked because I had a 1506 back in the day and the electronics were just ok. Sounds like he works some magic.

The C22 IV has a fixed output so you could try and find one of those.
