The other choice I need to make is which preamp to get. My DAC and Phono pre output 2 volts. I have a Schiit Sys, will that work until I can get something else?

I'll report back once I get the amp. Looking forward to some sweet tube sound!
Save your $$$ and get an Inspire preamp. Wait on another pair of KT88's until you can get a new or used Inspire preamp. Use the Shiit until then.
The input tube, 6SL7 or 6SN7, will make more of a difference than a different power tube. See first sentence and repeat.

You are getting a fine amp and, all kidding aside, it deserves an Inspire preamp.

Try the 6SN7 & 6SL7 in the Shiit and report back.

I saw that on USA Audiomart. The package the seller offering is a good deal.

That amp is like the first Inspire Dennis sold me, except mine is a triode wired SEP.

That's the plan for now, save my pennies and get an Inspire preamp. Dennis indicated he is coming out with a new "matching" preamp next month. Any idea what that might be and how many pennies I'll need to save?

I actually still own my 807 pair + adapters, I've just never tried them again after that happened.

The amp I pictured above is the custom "6V6-H" headamp I ordered from DH. I've never tried 807 with it, but I assume I'll get the same result of what happened to my FB-KT88.

With all that said, ya 807 was actually my favorite pentode I'd ever tried. I got a good 100hr-ish hours of play time on them before it blew the fuse. Had the sweetest treble and most airy presentation of any tube I had tried.

A few months back in this thread, Straitwire showed off a custom 807 that was built for a customer (not sure if they post on this thread tho). Something I'd be interested in. In fact I'd be really interested in an 807 parallel (quad set of 807).

I've been looking for a 16-24wpc tube amp for a long time now, to accommodate my eventual speaker upgrade. I'd previously posted about 845 amps, but they're so hard to find. They either have bad designs (Chinese stuff) or are $$$. Still jamming out with my original FB-KT88, for now.
Comzee, I have an Inspire PSE w/IIPS listed on Agon. I bought it from Beatlebum. It can run 807's. The tube chart is on the listing. I just don't need that much power.

There is a post here from Bearcity about the new pre, but I can't find it. He said it will be called CJ5. Ask Dennis about it. I did check out the tubes it uses when I saw the posts and they are not expensive.

Default New Fire-Bottle has arrived!

The amp arrived today. Now to get it up and running

One quick question. Dennis sent two rectifier tubes, a 5AR4 and a 5u4 along with two input tubes, a 6SL7 and 6SN7. Since I'll be using a passive pre for a while he thought the 6SL7 will give a bit more gain.

Which rectifier/input tube combo should I use?

I'm going to message him and see if he has the "tube rolling" reference sheet for this amp done so he can send me a copy.

Thanks for the help!

Ask Dennis when you message him and let us know what he says.
