Default Hurricane Michael

It looks like at least a few of you living in Northwestern Florida are in the projected path of Hurricane Michael. Take the necessary precautions.

Jim.......Looks like hurrcane Michael will pass mighty close to me. I am just south of Live Oak, Florida. I hope it follows the current projected path and doesn't veer any farther to the east. I don't wish the danger on anyone, but pray it doesn't land on us. Right now it looks like the eye will make landfall somewhere between Panama City Beach and Destin or Pensacola. If Michael continues on that path it will just be a rain and 20 to 30 mph wind event here.

I gassed up the Tahoe today and the generator, plus an extra 20 gallons of fuel in five gallon fuel containers in case we have an extended power outage. Earlier this year I had two large oak trees cut down and the tops cut out of a half dozen other oaks that worried me last year during hurricane Irma when it blew through here September 2017. I don't need those big heavy oaks crashing through my roof. I had three oaks uprooted last year during Irma, fortunately not close to the house.

Nothing left to do but keep an eye on the forecast and hunker down. That's life in Florida.

Be safe Dan!!

Looks like my deck furniture might go for a ride. We just skirted this beast as we leave Miami for Havana and points south and west.

You should be okay. Looks like it'll come in just west of Tallahassee. Gusty winds and lots of rain.

At Category 4 with winds of 130-150 that is more than gusty!! Panama Beach, Apalachicola, Destin, and Tallahassee should all feel winds of over 75mph.
