Was introduced to E. Guigal's 2013 Cotes du Rhone at Venable Rotisserie Bistro in Chapel Hill a couple of weeks ago. We've found locally for ~$13/bottle and has been added to our list of table wines. If in Chapel Hill, give Venable a try. Their roast beef sandwich and salads are excellent. Plus, they pour a generous 'sample' of their various wines for one to try. Compared the Cotes du Rhone to a couple of Malbecs they had and it was a clear winner for me.

Tonight was the - new to me - Lagavulin Double Matured 16 yr. Very smoky and smooth. May be an acquired taste for some but for those that like whiskey from Islay, it will work.

After 15 years in its initial oak casks, it is moved to freshly charred new oak casks for the final year.
