Default Nagra 300p and 300i amps from 6moons.com

September 2010 - Nagra 300B amps - The Nagra 300p and 300i are power and integrated amplifier versions of the same class A 300B push/pull platform with transistor drivers and transistor rectification and a massive stack of inhouse-wound power and output transformers. This transformer assembly ships separately and gets fixed to the main chassis in the final location with a few bolts. With a power output of 2 x 20 watts and a price below €20.000 (actual price varies with country and VAT), this is the Swiss company's statement on what a modern low-distortion highly linear 300B amplifier should be.

In my humble opinion, 20 watts per channel just doesn't get it, even from Nagra.

High Efficiency Speakers...

Klipsch LaScala's or Khorns are one example.
104db @ 1w
107db @ 2w
110db @ 4w
113db @ 8w
116db @ 16w

20 watts is more than enough!

I heard the 300i with Verity's Leonore and it was heaven. 20 watts drove the Verity with no problems, room was quite large too. Incredibly tight and extended bass, beautiful mids & highs as expected from a 300B. I would be very happy with this amp.

No doubt, Leonore was designed to be tube friendly with a stable 8 ohm impedance and 93dB efficiency.

Brian.......I agree, high efficiency speakers would be necessary. I was speaking from my point of view about power with speakers I prefer. I have no doubt as to the quality of sound that Nagra amps produce, or anything else Nagra manufactures.
