Back and forth on new CD player/transport
I have used my CD player maybe 5 times in the last 3 or 4 months. I usually rip everything to my server and play it through Roon. I have been going back and forth on replacing my old Adcom GCD-850, which is starting to have some issues. The Cambridge CXC transport and Marantz CD-6006 are the two I have narrowed my choices down too. I had thought of doing something higher end, but for the little bit I use it, I just can't justify spending more money than this.
I have the McIntosh MHA100 that I use for my DAC, so not really concerned about the CD player having all that crazy stuff built into it. Thoughts on either of these? Or anything else in this price range you would recommend? |

Why not look at a Bryston BOT-1. Then you'll have a good quality transport for ripping music and you can play through it too using your MHA100 as the DAC. If not, then Marantz has always had good quality CD players IMHO.

I like the Oppo BDP-105 as a transport. Reliable and versatile.

Purchased a new CXC when my Linn Majik bit the dust a few years ago.
CXC sounded nice, especially at it's respective price point. 18 months in, the laser assembly quit. After many e-mails and phone calls, it was repaired under warranty. Upon receipt, sold it and replaced with a far superior, and expensive, SimAudio transport. Other CXC owners have reported similar issues. YMMV. |

And the BOT-1 cost 1K... I think that that is out of his budget range. |

Ya, you're right, it needs a BDP to be used. Oppo then.
